House, Senate panels markup CHIP legislation

DRIVING THE DAY: CHIP BILLS MARKED UP: House and Senate committees today will take up legislation to extend Children’s Health Insurance funding by five years. But neither bill will include eHealth policies, casting doubt on whether they’ll make it into the bills before they become law. The Energy and Commerce Committee early Tuesday released separate bills on CHIP and community health center funding. The panel will separately mark up bills that require Medicare to cover tele-stroke care (H.R. 1148 (115)) and remove a requirement that the HHS secretary create "more stringent measures of meaningful use" over time (H.R. 3120 (115)). The Senate’s CHIP bill (S. 1827 (115)) is a fairly clean five-year extension. CLICK HERE
